Practice
Datum Advisory is an independent analytical practice examining how complex systems behave under conditions of uncertainty, pressure and structural change.
Its work combines systems analysis, enterprise risk, geography and environmental understanding to interpret strategic issues through relationships rather than isolated events.
The Principal
Harry Darkly founded Datum Advisory to examine how complex systems behave under conditions of uncertainty, pressure and structural change. His work focuses on the relationships between political, environmental, geographic and organisational systems, and on what those relationships reveal about systemic risk, enterprise resilience and long-term change.
Datum's analytical approach is founded on the belief that geopolitical events, environmental pressures and organisational risks cannot be understood in isolation. Instead, they should be examined as interconnected systems whose relationships often determine strategic outcomes more than any single event.
Harry holds a Master of Laws and an MSc in International Security and Global Governance. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and a member of the Royal Geographical Society and the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House).
Datum Advisory reflects this philosophy: independent analysis, careful judgement and evidence-led thinking, delivered with clarity rather than certainty.
